Our History

We are part of a family owned business under the umbrella of the Grober Group of Companies that celebrates over 40 years of manufacturing excellence in Canada. In 1974, our founder, Jerry Bartelse, moved from the Netherlands to start Grober Nutrition based out of Cambridge, Ontario. In 1978, Jerry started Delft Blue Foods. He was inspired by a name that reflects exceptional quality — just like the world famous porcelain made in the city of Delft, Holland. Our Cambridge-based facility delivers on the highest standards of quality and precision for our entire line of products and services. With our core values anchored in the tenants of innovation, quality, and customer service, we help our customers steadily find new levels of growth and sustainable success.

Bringing 15 years food industry experience with him, Jim joined Delft Blue Foods in 2012. He remains steadfastly committed to manufacturing quality products efficiently and cost effectively. “At Delft Blue Foods, we believe that success comes not from one individual, but from the efforts of the entire team. With this philosophy embedded in our culture, each team member plays a vital role and is held to the highest standards. As a result, success belongs to everyone!”

Production and Manufacturing Solutions Coordinator


Kim Chaves joined Delft Blue Foods in 1997. She initially worked in the the Case Ready department when it was first introduced. In the 15 years Kim was in the role of Case Ready Supervisor, she helped customers launch many new products. She brings a great deal of experience and creativity to her current role as Production and Manufacturing Solutions Coordinator. “I look forward to many diverse opportunities to partner with existing and new customers.”

Sales and Sourcing Manager


Bringing 30 years of experience in the meat industry, Vito joined Delft Blue in 2006. He came to Delft Blue with extensive knowledge in all cutting and portioning aspects of the meat business. Throughout his years at Delft Blue he has held various positons from production supervisor to production manager and finally made his way into the sales force. He believes in treating customers fairly and going the extra mile to give the end user a superb product. In doing so it helps increase and strengthen a partnership, Builds trust and provides excellent customer service.

She has worked with major retailers and foodservice to develop and launch product brands. After spending nearly 2 decade working at DC Foods as Senior Product Developer, Nancey knows what truly drives new product initiatives and samples from conceptualization stage to finished product.
